Jimmy Harvell has traveled all across the world selling and promoting the watersports industry, but he began his career right here in the DFW Metroplex.
Jimmy’s love and enthusiasm for water skiing was well known around his hometown of Arlington, TX where he got his start selling skis out of a garage! This garage wasn’t just any run of the mill garage. This garage was owned by Ed O’brien of relation to Herb O’brien, the founder of O’brien Skis, HO Sports, Radar Skis, and Ronix Wakeboards. Having the cutting edge O’brien products to sell along with Jimmy’s gregarious salesmanship resulted in the business being incredibly successful and outgrowing the garage. In 1977 Jimmy setup a retail store in Arlington. Through selling Herb O’brien’s skis, Jimmy and Herb became good friends, and when needed someone for his National Waterski Roadshow, he knew Jimmy was the perfect fit. Jimmy canvassed the US and much of the globe promoting and selling Herb’s latest creations.
After many successful years on the road Jimmy was ready for a new opportunity that would allow him to get back to his roots and start a family. This opportunity came in the form of the purchase of Ski Tex in Irving, Tx. Shortly after purchasing Ski Tex, MasterCraft Boats proposed that Jimmy take on the brand and open a Mastercraft dealership. Texas MasterCraft opened in September of 2001 with goal of being the most service oriented dealership in the country. To further Texas MasterCraft’s mission Jimmy relocated the business to the current location of Fort Worth in 2003, fulfilling his dream of having our own private lake to conduct demos, on the water orientations, lessons, and wakeboard events. Since then our facilities have greatly expanded and feature a cutting edge showroom, proshop, and service center all housed under one roof.
Jimmy founded Texas MasterCraft on his philosophy that families enjoy stronger relationships through boating. Boating is unique in that there are so many different aspects that people enjoy. Some people love to get in on the action behind the boat, and some people get just as much enjoyment out of watching and driving. Having so many different aspects of boating to enjoy makes boating one of the few activities that multiple generations of a family can all participate in together. Jimmy lives this philosophy with his wonderful wife, children, and parents every chance he gets. When you take out your new MasterCraft look for Jimmy and his family enjoying some quality time on the water!
Todd Nicol started in the boat business while attending the University of Texas at Arlington in the late 1980's. After 15 years with the Slalom Shop and the opportunity to sell the MasterCraft product line again, he joined Texas MasterCraft in 2003. When Todd is not selling boats, he enjoys boating, golf, and spending time with his wife Kyndal and their 3 children.
